Enjoy Hemingway Days 2023

July 11, 2023

Ernest Hemingway is one of America's most beloved authors. If you’ve visited Key West before, then you are probably aware of his influence locally. Hemingway lived and wrote in Key West from 1931 until 1939 and left behind a strong, visible legacy. Each year, Hemingway fans converge on Key West for Hemingway Days

Hemingway Days 2023 will take place July 18 through 23. This annual celebration pays tribute to the Nobel Prize–winning author’s writing achievements, sporting pursuits, and enjoyment of the island’s easygoing lifestyle. The planned events are as varied as Hemingway's many hobbies. Highlights of the festival include a Hemingway lookalike contest, a three-day marlin fishing tournament, literary readings, a paddle board race, and much more.

One of the wildest things about this event is walking around town and seeing scores of Hemingway lookalikes. The lookalike contest at Sloppy Joe’s is always a blast. For an unforgettable, wacky experience, check out the Running of the Bulls. During this event, Ernest Hemingway lookalikes push fake bulls down the street!

While you're in town, be sure to stop by the Hemingway Home & Museum to meet the descendants of Hemingway's cats and see where the author lived. This historic attraction offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of Hemingway.

This summer, celebrate Ernest Hemingway in Key West!
