There's a lot of competition for the title of "best beach in Florida." Most people will agree, however, that some of the best beaches in the state are in the Florida Keys. In a recent article, Travel + Leisure went a step further and named one local beach as among the top family beaches in the state!

In an article published on January 31, 2023, Travel + Leisure named the 15 best family beaches in Florida. One Florida Keys beach made this exclusive list! Each beach on this list has been vetted for family-friendly features, including beach style, nearby attractions, and accessible restaurants, so you can rest assured that these are the best of the best.

The full list of beaches that made the list is as follows: (1) Vero Beach, (2) Panama City Beach, (3) Longboat Key, (4) Cocoa Beach, (5) Amelia Island, (6) Clam Pass Park, (7) Key Biscayne, (8) St. Pete Beach, (9) Naples, (10) New Smyrna Beach, (11) St. Augustine Beach, (12) Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, (13) Hutchinson Island, (14) Destin-Fort Walton Beach, and (15) Fort Lauderdale.

It is easy to see why Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park made this list! With calm water, excellent facilities, and plentiful activities to enjoy, this quiet, historic, and beautiful beach is perfect for families traveling to Florida with kids!

Speaking of Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, Travel + Leisure wrote: "Families who vacation in the Florida Keys are often left wondering where all the beaches are on these coral rock islands. While there aren’t many true beaches throughout the island chain, one of the best family beaches in the Florida Keys awaits at the end of US Highway 1 in Key West at Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park. Pack a picnic and your snorkeling masks and fins to make the most of Key West’s best swimming beach, where you can always find a shady spot to lay out your towel under a tree. Nearby, the free Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center is a perfect family stop to learn more about Florida Keys habitats and native creatures."

The Florida Keys are full of fantastic, family-friendly beaches with lots to offer visitors, but this is one of the best. What beaches would you add to Travel + Leisure's list? Tell us in the comments!
