Veterans Day Weekend 2023

November 9, 2023

On November 11th, we pause to honor the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Veterans Day is a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by these extraordinary individuals, who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedom and upholding our nation's values. In the Florida Keys, you'll find a variety of programs, services, and activities that give you the chance to honor our veterans!

There are countless ways to honor veterans, both on Veterans Day and throughout the year. We can express our gratitude by simply saying "thank you" for their service. We can learn about their experiences and sacrifices by listening to their stories. We can support organizations that provide essential services to veterans, such as job training, healthcare, and counseling.

There are many ways to celebrate Veterans Day in the Keys! You can...

Attend Key Largo's Veterans Day Ceremony: There will be a Veterans Day ceremony to honor all who served at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Murray Nelson Government Center in Key Largo. There will be patriotic music, a presentation of the colors, and a picnic.

Watch a Parade: Multiple cities in the Keys will host parades in honor of Veterans Day. There will be a parade in Marathon at 11am on November 11th and in Key West at 4pm on November 11th.

Visit the Key West Veterans Memorial Garden: The Key West Veterans Memorial Garden is tucked away in Bayview Park. It is a quiet, sincere, and beautiful memorial to the country's veterans.

Tour the USCGC Ingham Maritime Museum: At the USCGC Ingham Maritime Museum, you can witness one of only two preserved Treasury-class United States Coast Guard Cutters. It is a wonderful museum and memorial.
